Pohl Joins Autodesk Inc. Design Team
In July 2011, Autodesk Inc. extended an invitation to Brian J. Pohl to join its product design team based out of Toronto and Montreal, Canada. As a principle user experience designer, Pohl and his background in film preproduction, production and virtual filmmaking technologies will help focus the evolution of the next generation of Autodesk products and tools over the next 5 to 10 years. While the design group is based out of Canada, Pohl will continue to reside in Los Angeles to interface with the film community.
Pohl has nearly 16 years of experience as a graphic designer, visual effects artist, technical director, and previs supervisor. A veteran of George Lucas’ JAK Films’ previsualization team and Industrial Light and Magic’s art department, Pohl is credited for creating or supervising previs on over 22 films including Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002), I, Robot (2004) , Open Season (2006), Star Trek (2009) and Battle: Los Angeles (2011).
Before joining Autodesk, Pohl was co-owner and CEO of POV Previs LLC. Past employers include Sony Imageworks, Digital Domain, and Industrial Light and Magic. Pohl is also a founding member of the Previsualization Society.
